This September, the Impact Hub Mexico City turned 5 years and in the framework of their celebrations they received the certificate that accredits them as B Corp.
The B Corporation certificate recognizes companies that meet the highest standards in terms of social and environmental performance, transparency and corporate responsibility.
“The first time it existed as an Impact Hub Mexico City, just over five years ago, it was around Companies B and now we are happy because our house joins this great community”, said Ramses Gómez, Executive Director of Sistema B México.
Impact Hub Mexico City is the first Impact Hub in Latin America to obtain this certificate. There are more than 2,500 Certified B Corporations in more than 130 industries and 60 countries with a single shared objective: to redefine what is meant by business success.
Certified B Corporations make modifications to their legal constitution’s statutes so they can make decisions and implement practices that keeps in mind not only the value for shareholders, but also the impact for all interested parts: employees, customers, environment and society. It is one of the few certifications that isn’t granted for a service or a product, but to the entire company that is behind them.
To obtain the certification, Impact Hub Mexico City completed a rigorous evaluation process, documented the positive impact and must go through the verification process every three years to keep the certification.
Some of the B Companies at Mexico are: Rayito de Luna, Someone Somewhere, Pixza, Buna, Donadora, Kubo Financiero and Natura.
